Worship Ministry
"When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words
than my words be without heart."
- Lamar Boschman -
What Is Worship Like at Fellowship Baptist Church?

It has been said that there are at least four "languages" of worship.

The first and most familiar is the verbal language of worship which involves words that are spoken, sung, and prayed.

There is a sonic language of worship which involves sounds and silences, including music.

There is a kinesthetic language of worship involving movement, gesture, posture, and motion. And lastly, there is a visual language of worship involving the use of color and form in physical space.

Because people are different,
the four worship languages allow for a variety of catalysts to worship. That's why at Fellowship Baptist Church, you'll find the message communicated through a variety of arts such as drama, music, media, and more.

Worship Values of Fellowship Baptist Church
Those involved in worship ministry at Fellowship Baptist Church seek to effectively communicate the truth of God in ways that will stir up the hunger and desire in people to authentically respond in an offering of whole-life worship.

Effective Communication
To effectively communicate the truth of God, we focus on both relevance and excellence in our worship. We strive to extend God’s love and mercy to all people in such a way as to persuade them to become true worshipers of Him (see John 4:23).  This means we offer our very best to God, not settling for mediocrity. We also seek to be relevant to today’s culture for both believer and seeker.

Hunger & Desire for God
The prophet Jeremiah likened his passion for God to a "fire shut up in his bones" that he could not hold in. W
e should never be satisfied with our spiritual walk, but always hunger for more of God's presence and understanding of His Word.  In worship, the spiritually hungry present themselves to God. With this attitude, we encourage all to continually seek to grow in the knowledge of God and to worship Him in the fullness He desires.

Authentic Response

The most important thing about our worship is to realize that it is an offering to God.

Romans 12:1 says "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God --this is your spiritual act of worship."

At Fellowship Baptist Church we are not spectators, but rather God's people offering themselves to Him as "living sacrifices" in a spiritual act of worship. We believe that worship is a natural outflow of an inward attitude of humility, reverence, thanksgiving, and affection toward God

Whole-life Worship
Our belief is that all aspects of Christian life are outgrowths of our worship of Christ – every thought, action, and decision. We believe our worship is a primary responsibility, if not the defining characteristic, of a Christian. Therefore, we treat our worship of Him as a priority in our lives, both during our weekly gatherings and throughout the week.

The Fellowship Baptist Church Worship Style
Perhaps one way to describe the worship style at Fellowship Baptist Church is to say that we embrace a contemporary style of worship (music, message, casual atmosphere) that utilizes the best of both the old and new.

We sing a variety of music in a variety of styles. Most Sundays, our Praise Band & Singers lead new songs from contemporary songwriters (such as Tommy Walker, Matt Redman, and Darlene Zschech), but also old favorites such as "All Hail The Power of Jesus' Name" and "The Doxology." How Can I Get Involved?
We have several rotating teams of musicians, singers, and technicians, so there are always opportunities to get involved! If you are gifted in the arts, consider these opportunities to serve:

Always opportunities to get involved!
Praise Team
Our weekly worship is typically led by our Praise Team members comprised of musicians, singers, and sound/PowerPoint technicians. When possible, different rotations of teams play and sing, based upon the current Rotation Schedule. There are weekly mid-week rehearsals with warm-up rehearsals on Sunday mornings.

Featured Music
At many services we are be privileged to have featured music provided either by the Praise Team, gifted believers from the congregation, or by guest worshipers.

Featured Choirs & Volunteers
Featured choirs are often formed seasonally for special events such as Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, etc. Rehearsal times are set based upon volunteer availability; usually once a week and commonly on Sunday afternoons.

Technical & Fine Arts
We especially seek to embrace the technical and fine arts. We already have needs in sound reinforcement and PowerPoint, and are looking for individuals interested in serving God with film, multimedia, and other fine arts.

Special Notice: Although we can always use more gifted individuals in all areas, we currently have some specific needs and opportunities. If you play or know someone who plays bass, acoustic and/or electric guitar or would like to serve at the soundboard or with PowerPoint, please email Pastor Dave - pastor@fbcriverside.org .
