Senior Pastor – Greg Cochran
Greg has been married for over 27 years to his lovely wife Vickie, and they have seven fantastic children, including two little boys they have adopted from Ethiopia. He currently works as the Director of Applied Theology at California Baptist University. Greg has a Ph.D. in Ethics from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. Prior to moving to Riverside, Greg pastored Cedar Grove Baptist Church. Greg has more than 15 years of pastoral experience as well as a deep love for proclaiming God's Word. He believes in expository preaching, has a genuine heart for the Gospel and a love for the body of Christ.
Associate Pastor – Nik Brownell
Nik and his wife, Rachel, have been married since 2007 and they have two sons, Conan and Zeke. Nik has served in pastoral ministry since 2004 and came to FBC in 2015. He also currently works at California Baptist University as the administrator and overseer of undergraduate and graduate admissions systems. He has a B.A. in Christian Studies and an M.S. in Educational Leadership. Nik loves teaching, preaching and developing training materials for the congregation.
Elder – Earl Straw
Earl Straw has been at FBC with his wife, Nora, since October, 2011. They have been married 28 years. Earl retired from Pacific Bell after 31 years. Earl was born in Covina, CA. and has been a believer since 1971. He earned an Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education at Azusa Pacific College and looks forward to the Lord’s service at this time. Nora is a Registered Nurse, working with young mothers and their babies. They have two married daughters and one grand daughter. They love being with their FBC family and serve with Awana, Nursery, and Tuesday Life group. Earl enjoys reading , gardening, exterminating gophers, movies, house repairs, going to restaurants, and staying away from sports.
Elder – Sal Ibarra
Although Sal was raised Catholic, he confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior in 1994 when he converted to Christianity. He loves the Lord and enjoys serving as an elder, shepherding the people of God and seeing them grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures and their love for Christ and the gospel. Sal enjoys spending time with his family and teaching the children and youth during the Sunday school hour and during children’s church. Sal and his wife have been married for over 25 years and they have one son and one daughter who have also trusted in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation. Sal and his family have been at Fellowship Baptist Church since 2000.
Elder – Karl Newman
Karl Newman and his family have been at FBC since February 2014. He and his wife, Mercedes, have been married 15 years and have two children, Nathan and Grace. They have lived in Riverside for the past 9 years. Karl has worked in the commercial plumbing construction trade for 25 years. He enjoys studying theology and serving God by caring for his church. Along with being an Elder, Karl serves with his wife in the Awana program.
Staff
Worship Leader – Tyler Gregory
Tyler has been playing the piano for 15 years and his favorite composer is Frédéric Chopin. He also enjoys movie films. He is currently a fulltime student at Cal Baptist University majoring in piano performance and minoring in films. His favorite portion of scripture is the beautiful prayer found in Jonah 2.
Pastoral Intern – Alec Parker
Alec Parker is our Pastoral Ministry Intern. Alec is a recent graduate of California Baptist University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Theology. As he has a heart for ministering to the spiritual needs of the body of Christ, Alec is studying to be a pastor. He is entering seminary school in the fall. Alec is a blessing to Fellowship Baptist Church, and it is a joy to welcome him to the ministry team.
Church Secretary – Semone Simmons
Semone is the secretary for FBC and loves serving the Lord through serving her church. She is wife to Steve and mother of five children and grandmother of seven. She and Steve have been married for 20 years. Semone was raised in the church, but it was in September 2008 that the Lord saved her and she began an authentic walk with Christ. She loves walking alongside of other women in the faith. She writes poetry and devotionals, loves reading Christian books and watching sermons that encourage her love and devotion to Christ. Semone earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministries from California Baptist University. Semone's life verse is Acts 20:24
